When Windows 7 came out on the market everybody was really excited and did not pay much attention to the many compatibility issues with older games that ran just fine on your old Windows XP machine.

When I realized that “Scarface: The World Is Yours” simply did not run on Windows 7, I was really disappointed. I searched the web and forums for a solution that would work but, at the end, I came out with empty-handed. I read that the developers have decided to discontinue producing patches and said that they will not be coming with any fix for Windows 7.

A couple days later I had the urge to play the game again but since I already knew that it will not run on my Windows 7 PC I decided that It would be a waste of time to install it. However, the next day, I decided that it was time to REALLY search the internet for possible new fixes. After a while I discovered a solution that I haven`t yet tested out so I decided go ahead and give it a try.

It worked!!! I found a solution on how to fix Scarface on Windows 7.

Here is step-by-step guide and what I did to successfully run this game without any graphic issues.

NOTE: I don’t know if this will work on Windows 8. You’ll have to test it out yourself.

Step 1.
Most of the computers nowadays have multi-core CPUs. However Scarface, was designed to run only on one core CPUs. You’ll need to configure your operation system to use only one core of your X core CPU.

You'll need to restart your computer for changes to take effect!

Click the start menu button on the bottom left and type in the Search Programs And Files Field “msconfig”. Hit the ENTER button. New windows will pop-up entitled System Configuration. Go to the Boot tab and click the Advanced Options button. Tick the Number of Processors option and select 1 from the drop-down menu underneath. Click OK, then OK again and you have configured your PC to use only 1 core of your CPU.

IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to revert back to the default settings after you are done playing Scarface.

Step 2.
All you need to do now is run Scarface in Windows XP Compatibility mode. Just right click on the Scarface shortcut and select properties. On the properties screen go to the Compatibility Tab and check the “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” option and select Windows XP from the drop down menu below. Click OK ,Start the game, and enjoy.
